We have lost another CARB HoF, Inc. Inductee. Dale Moore

We have lost another CARB HoF, Inc. Inductee. Dale Moore a racer, a comedian, an all around good person to many. Dale will be sorely missed by all. Condolences to family and many friends that was honored by his presence. RIP our friend.

Loren Dale Moore, age 87, passed away September 27, 2024, at the Independence Manor Care Center in Independence, Missouri. Dale was born on June 18, 1937, in Tipton, Missouri, the oldest child to Morton and Elizabeth Moore. Dale married Judith Ann Carlson on March 2, 1957, and they shared three children, residing in Independence until retiring to Truman Lake in 1995. Dale worked machine maintenance at Bendix, Lake City and Western Electric, was a machinist at Shelton Machine Shop, and completed his work life with Travelers Insurance as an automobile claims adjuster.

Dale was known for his love of sprint car racing, his ability to work with his hands, and the deep connections he shared with family and friends. A skilled and competitive sprint car driver, he found joy in the thrill of speed, building engines and the camaraderie of fellow drivers. In his later years he helped his son, Terry, and grandson, Michael, with their sprint cars. Dale was proud to be inducted into the Central Auto Racing Boosters (CARB) Hall of Fame in 2011.

In addition to his love of racing, Dale took pride in the beautiful log home he built with Judy, log by log, with the help of his brothers Larry, Ray and Kenny, at Truman Lake. There he also built his custom shop, where he tinkered every day, but only until lunchtime. Dale enjoyed tending to his garden in the summer and considered himself a tomato connoisseur. Dale and Judy also enjoyed spending winters at their second home in Harlingen, TX, going out to eat, playing cards and socializing with wonderful friends.

Dale was an avid fisherman, hunter, and pianist, although he played by ear instead of reading music. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs and Royals on TV and later in life selling and buying motor parts on eBay. He could talk to anyone he met with ease due to his quick wit.

Survivors include Dale’s devoted wife of 67 years, Judy, of the home; sons Terry (Cindy), Camden, MO; Kevin, Independence, MO; daughter Cheryl, Independence, MO; five grandsons; three great-grandchildren; brother Kenny (Nancy), Blue Springs, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers Larry Moore and Ray Moore.

Condolences can be expressed Friday, October 4th, at the Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO, with visitation starting at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m., burial to follow.
